General Workplace Expectations
Positivity
We promote a positive work environment. We expect our employees to be positive and helpful while at work both when interacting with our patients as well as each other. When working with others it is important to be respectful, pleasant, patient, understanding, and to use good manners. To provide great service, we put our patients first. Personal conversations or activities should be put aside until patient needs are met whether in person or on the phone.
Appearance
We ask that all employees come to work ready to represent the professional nature of our business. For reception and office employees, we ask that you wear business casual clothing (slacks, capris, skirts or dresses that are knee length or longer, polos, blouses, sweaters, etc.). On Fridays blue jeans are allowed. For clinical staff, we ask that you wear scrub pants and presentable shirts or jackets. We prefer black or gray scrub pants and jackets, but colored shirts can be worn beneath the scrub jacket. Tee shirts bearing the Twin Rivers logo are approved apparel as long as they, along with all other attire are in good condition. Employees must dress appropriately for their specific job function. For employees who have regular patient interaction, please wear your name tag. You should be well groomed and dress in a neat and business-like way. Please keep in mind that some patients and co-workers may have an allergy or be sensitive to fragrances. Please try not to use anything with more than a very mild fragrance.
Smoking
All Twin Rivers facilities are tobacco and vapor cigarette free. If you must smoke during your shift, we ask that you go outside and find a location that is not visible to patients. As always, patient needs must come first. We ask that you limit your time outside to break times so that it doesn’t interfere with patient care and other duties.
Dating
Employees are prohibited from dating co-workers. If a dating relationship should arise, then one or both of the employees must resign from their position.
Work Spaces and Commons Areas
Often work areas in our organization are shared by several employees. You should keep work areas clean, neat, and orderly. Desktops should be organized upon leaving the office for the day. All charts/client records need to be secured.
It is each employee’s responsibility to clean up after themselves when using the break room or other commons areas. Please wash any dishes that you use, dry them, and put them away. Wipe down counters, tables, and appliances after use.
Personal Visitors
If a personal visitor/family member stops by, they should only be allowed access to areas where they won’t accidentally overhear patient conversations that are confidential. Personal visits should be kept to a minimum to avoid disrupting work and work flow.
Fundraising/Sales
Fundraising or sales, including fundraisers for the purpose of assisting organizations or employees, must be approved by the Director of Operations. Sales of goods or products to employees, including spending time examining sales books or brochures, is prohibited during business hours. Use of the office’s e-mail system or other messaging systems to solicit sales or to inform employees of product sales or fundraisers is also prohibited.
Business Travel
An employee who is authorized to use his/her car for business is expected to carry adequate amounts of liability insurance. Employees must have a valid driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance when driving for business purposes. Employees will be paid mileage for business travel in a personal vehicle. Mileage rates will be determined by management and may change from time to time with notice to employees.
For training seminars, employees will be paid their normal daily hours.
Activities Outside of Work
Twin Rivers Health Care, LLC and/or its insurer will not be liable for payment of worker’s compensation benefits for any injury that arises out of an employee’s voluntary participation in any off-duty recreational, social, or athletic activity that is not part of the employee’s work-related duties.
Inclement Weather
Employees are expected to arrive at work on time for their scheduled shifts. From time to time the weather may make travel difficult. There may be times when management determines that the office hours should be modified or closed due to severe weather. Employees who are scheduled for the day will be notified of those changes. If the office hours are changed or closed by management, employees may use vacation time for lost hours. If the office is open and an employee determines that conditions are too unsafe for them to travel, they will not be compensated for that time.
